Features Review

Not Outlook, But Looks Out Too

One service to protect you from various threats – that’s what Lookout is. Today’s mobile devices contain personal information, confidential listings, financial tools and accounts, and all of them need to be safe.

There are separate versions for iOS and Android; though most features are common, there are also specific modules for each system. Say, Android due to its open file system needs real-time file scanning. It’s also easier to protect wallets on Android. On the other hand, iOS has many protection features onboard, so it needs less coverage by third-party products.

For example, common features include alerts on software updates or security breaches in the services you use. Both iOS and Android users can enjoy encrypted Wi-Fi protection and get alerted if the network is potentially insecure. If you use potentially dangerous apps or proven malware, the app will notify you and offer urgent measures to protect you.

Security Sells

The basic version includes only basic features, like anti-theft protection, or software update alerts. Real protection starts with the subscription, and it’s $29.99/yr. It includes safe browsing and Wi-Fi encryption.

But the most interesting things about Lookout are social. First, it claims to protect your identity in case it’s stolen and misused. Second, it can track your accounts in social media and protect them from theft. And, third, its terms include insurance up to $1M that is meant to cover your losses in case of identity theft Lookout couldn’t block.

Some users report problems when they try to unsubscribe or uninstall the app. It’s all possible but takes a bit more effort and time than regular apps.

● Complex protection;
● Social media integration;
● Low system requirements;
● Insurance included.

● Most features are paid;
● Uninstalling and unsubscribing is tricky.

Secure Your Pockets

Lookout is quite an affordable security suite, unless you need a free one with more basic features. But if you are ready to pay, this option is among the best.
